As we get ready to celebrate the Christmas season with family and friends, it is a time to count our blessings. In Canada, we have much to be thankful for; and as we see news of what is happening in places like Aleppo and in Berlin, we can truly see how fortunate we are. We must all strive to keep Canada the beacon of freedom and peace that it is to the world.
For those of us who have much to offer, Christmas is also a time to remember those who are less fortunate, especially right here at home. As we make preparations for our own celebrations, please consider helping someone out to make theirs. By making a donation to local food banks, to our churches or to local toy drives, we can help make someone else’s Christmas as special as we’d like ours to be. We can also consider setting an extra place at our table for someone we know is alone during this special time.
The people of our constituency are some of the most thoughtful and generous people nationwide and I look forward to seeing how we all come together as a community during the Christmas season.
I hope everyone takes the time to see their family and friends, to reflect on the blessings of 2016 and to look forward to what’s to come in 2017!
From my family to you and yours, I wish you a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
